Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and is a key constituent of all connective tissues. Collagen is a vital building block of our bodies including skin, hair nails, bones and joints. Often our bodies cannot synthesise enough collagen on their own and modern day diets are unfortunately not typically as rich in collagen as that of our ancestors. Our body’s natural collagen production typically starts to decline in our mid-20s, and continues declining with age at an estimated rate of +/- 1% per year. It decreases even more in women after menopause. Our body’s natural collagen production is also hampered by other factors such as smoking, high sugar diets and excessive UV exposure. Supplementing your diet with Beauty Gen® collagen can help solve the collagen deficit problem, thereby supporting healthy skin, hair, nails, connective tissue and joints and muscle recovery.

We recommended storing in a cool, dark place, away from moisture.

Yes, the collagen peptides in our Beauty Gen products are perfectly heat stable and can be added to hot drinks as well as used to nutritionally fortify cooked foods.

We have selected a very unique probiotic (LactoSpore) that is extremely heat stable and has even been tested to retain viability during baking for up to 20–25 minutes at 205 °C. Vitamin C, however, tends to start losing some potency when temperatures exceed 70°C for extended periods. Coffee, as a reference, is typically consumed at 60-70°C, as is most hot food. Naked Collagen +PLUS is thus best added to food or drink on serving and not during boiling or where extended cooking times are employed.

Collagen is a pure protein and 100% natural food ingredient, and is therefore generally recognised as safe as a dietary supplement. That being said, we always recommend that pregnant or breastfeeding moms consult with their healthcare professional before adding nutritional supplements to their diets.

Since collagen is a 100% natural protein food component, it is considered safe for consumption by all age groups. We do recommend that all parents, including pregnant or lactating women, consult with their healthcare specialists before adding nutritional supplements to their children’s diets.

Yes, our collagen is hydrolysed, and therefore easily digested and absorbed. It is suitable for adding to hot or cold foods and beverages without clumping.

We believe that collagen is best consumed on an ongoing basis, as part of one’s daily healthy eating plan, for best long term results. There is no need to supplement on and off collagen as is the practice with certain other nutritional supplements.

Unlike drugs, nutrients generally do not have rapid effects. Your body uses the collagen in your diet to manufacture new body tissue on a daily basis and typically takes a few months to regenerate completely new body cells and brand new tissue such as hair, skin, nails, muscle and connective tissue. So, whilst you may begin to notice some benefits of collagen supplementation within the first few weeks, its full benefits may only begin to be realised after 2-3 months of regular daily supplementation. These benefits will continue to be enhanced over a 6-12 month period, at which point physiological dynamics would have seen a completely new you being “regenerated”.

We typically recommend supplementing with between 10-20 g per day depending on your lifestyle and diet. 10 g of supplemental collagen per day, taken on a consistent basis, is generally sufficient to provide great results.

Our collagen powder is great for mixing into anything hot or cold. This includes things such as coffee, tea, soups, stews, gravies or even baked goods and oats! Browse our social media platforms for a variety of recipe ideas.

Beauty Gen collagen peptides is hydrolysed collagen derived from the hides of the highest quality cattle. These hides, which would typically be discarded as a by-product of the meat industry, are instead "upcycled" and turned into a high quality health product, providing a perfect source of collagen. The first step involves thoroughly cleaning and soaking the hides to remove any excess fat. Thereafter, the hides are soaked in hot water to facilitate the extraction of the collagen. The extracted collagen is then subjected to specialised enzymatic treatment, which “pre-digests” (hydrolyses) the collagen from the hides into shorter amino acid chains (peptides). The final steps involve the drying and milling of the collagen peptides into a fine, soluble, pure collagen peptide powder.

Collagen protein has a unique combination of amino acids that is only found within the skin and tissue of animals, and which does naturally occur in plants. For this reason, collagen cannot be vegan friendly.

We recommend you try our Naked Collagen. It is our most popular product, odourless and tasteless, and easy to incorporate into the various foods and drinks of a typical daily diet.

Naked Collagen consists of hydrolysed collagen peptides whereas our Beauty Greens range contains collagen peptides plus added organic superfoods, vitamin C, omega-3s and probiotics.

You can certainly take both products simultaneously or on the same day, depending on what you are looking for that day. If you are looking for a tasty stand-alone drink, or for an extra healthy skin boost, our Beauty Greens contains collagen plus organic superfoods, vitamin C, omega-3s and probiotics. However, you do not need to take both products to gain the benefits of collagen supplementation.

Naked Collagen contains pure hydrolysed collagen peptides whereas our Naked Collagen +PLUS contains collagen peptides plus added vitamin C and probiotics.

Each can of the Collagen Beauty Drinks contains 10 g of Our Hydrolysed Collagen. This is a high dose of collagen per can, plus we have also added vitamin C to assist with collagen synthesis.

Whilst collagen is not a fat burner, it does contribute to the health and elasticity of skin. Some individuals thus notice an improvement in the appearance of their cellulite, which can be attributed to collagen strengthening the skin’s connective tissue, and hydrating and improving the elasticity of the skin from within.

Collagen supports the nourishment and development of healthy skin tissue. Some individuals report that is has helped them in minimising the appearance of dark spots as well as in the improvement in appearance of scars from acne and other skin issues. Collagen supplements promote healthy tissue formation, which speeds up the healing process so your skin can naturally repair itself quicker and more effectively.

Whilst collagen is not directly promoted as a digestion aid, it is an important “tissue building material” that can help repair the stomach lining, thereby strengthening the gut and indirectly supporting healthy digestion.

Whilst Beauty Gen formulations are all-natural, with no added chemicals or harmful additives, we like to advise our customers to consult with their healthcare advisor before adding any new nutritional supplement to their diet.

Current recommendations for diabetics generally advise that daily sugar intake should not exceed 10% of daily energy intake. Scientific recommendations typically further advise the need for this percentage to ideally be further reduced to 5%, which equates to 25 g of sugars in a 2000 kCal/day diet. With the aforementioned in mind, Beauty Gen collagen products are all very low in sugar and thus well suited for inclusion in low carbohydrate, diabetic-friendly diets. That being said, diabetics should always factor the product's carbohydrate and sugar content into their daily diet plan and continue to regularly monitor their blood glucose levels to ensure that it is maintained within the recommended range.

Whilst collagen is not recommended as a fat burner or weight loss aid, it is a protein that, when added to one’s diet, can help contribute to increased satiety (the feeling of fullness). Increased satiety aids weight management and fat loss by reducing hunger, and thus influences how many calories you are inclined to consume.

Yes, collagen is equally suited to and beneficial for all skin types.

An effective single dose of collagen requires gram quantities (5-10 g per single serving and 10-20 g per day) and a typical capsule can fit only +/- 500 mg (½ g) of active ingredients. It is therefore not feasible to offer our Beauty Gen collagen in capsules, as an effective dose would require consuming 10 to 20 capsules per serving.

Absolutely! Our collagen creamer can be added to black tea, herbal tea, hot chocolate, matcha, smoothies, milo, water, milk – the choices are endless.

Whilst collagen certainly aids muscle and connective tissue repair and recovery, it is lacking in certain amino acids essential to muscle growth. Collagen is thus best consumed post workout mixed with other protein sources such as nuts, pea protein or dairy proteins such as whey.

The scoop is often buried in the collagen mixture during transit. Most customers find the scoop by using a fork to comb through the collagen powder. If you still cannot find it, please contact us for the equivalent scoop size. Alternatively, you can use a digital kitchen scale to accurately weigh out each serving.
